This lesson is for verbs tagged as irregular: irregular yo forms, spelling changes, and wholly irregular verbs.
A verb with its own forms
ser in Presente
An irregular yo form
tener changes the yo form and the stem, but it keeps the regular endings.
tener in Presente
A verb to learn form by form
ir keeps no part of its infinitive in the present. Learn each form on its own.
ir in Presente
Verbs that add a y
A verb that ends in -uir adds a y in every form but nosotros and vosotros: construir → construyo, construyes, construye, construimos, construís, construyen. oír takes the same shape after its irregular yo form: oigo, oyes, oye, oímos, oís, oyen.
Learn the pattern as a whole
Some irregular verbs share a change in one form; others, such as ser and ir, must be learned form by form. Keep the regular endings nearby as a comparison, but do not force an irregular verb into that pattern.
