The informal singular "you" pronoun used in parts of Latin America. It serves the same familiar purpose as tú but can use different conjugation patterns. In places where both occur, their distribution depends on region, relationship, and register.
Regional Usage
Voseo is especially widespread in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and parts of Central America. It also occurs in particular regions of Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Panama, and Ecuador. These are broad patterns, not country-wide rules: choose the dialect shown in Practy and listen for local usage.
Conjugation Differences
Vos conjugations typically end differently from tú forms but bear some resemblance. In some regions and contexts, vos is used with tú conjugations:
Present tense often ends in -ás, -és, or -ís (ex. hablás, bebés, vivís) Imperative commands are usually stressed on the last syllable For ser, the vos conjugation is sos instead of eres for tú
